Pilates
exercises have a natural progression which makes them ideal for all
levels of fitness, and the small numbers in the classes ensure that all
clients are given individual attention and can progress at their own
pace.
Classes concentrate on our natural alignment and stability, with
exercises creating both strength and flexibility. We include both
freestanding and mat exercises and where appropriate light weights are
used to strengthen muscles, but not add bulk. All equipment including
mats, is provided by Stratford Pilates Centre.
Clothing should be comfortable and non-restrictive.
Unless already familiar with Pilates, we find that attending a Private session, Feeder
Class or Introductory Workshop is essential prior to joining a course
of classes. It is necessary to understand the principles of Pilates in
order to gain the most from the exercises.
Group classes have a maximum of 12 clients, are one hour in length
and run weekly. Courses are run during school term times, so can be
between five and eight weeks long. Classes are payable in advance for
the full course. Our policy is that refunds are not given for missed classes, however
numbers permitting, and with notice, you are welcome to make this up at another time on
the same course. Clients are asked to pay at the end of each group of
classes to keep their place on the following course.

Private
tuition for matwork only, is available weekdays at either of our studios in Stratford-upon-Avon by
appointment. The one hour Private session begins by covering the unique
principles of Pilates, and is then designed to suit individual ability
and requirements. Private tuition is payable in advance and refunds are
given only with 24 hours notice of a cancellation.
Workshops
are run throughout the year, to give an insight into the Pilates
matwork method. Workshops are two hours long, and cover the principles
of Pilates which include your natural alignment, the correct breathing
technique and recruitment of stabilising muscles to prepare for
exercise. An introduction is then given to basic Pilates exercises
using these skills. Workshops are attended by a maximum of 10-12
participants. Workshops are payable two weeks in advance of the
selected date. No refunds are given once the booking has been made.
This
one hour Feeder Class is only available to those with no previous
experience of Pilates, who wish to join a course of classes currently
in session. The main principles of Pilates exercise are covered,
including lateral breathing, alignment and core stability.
Did you know that children as young as 12-15 months old can activate
their postural muscles in advance of arm movements whilst standing and
by 4-6 years old, these postural adjustments are essentially mature?
Children can benefit enormously from developing
movement and co-ordination skills from the age of 4.
Stratford Pilates Centre
offers Pilates for Children in the form of Workshops, which are run during the Easter
and Summer holidays. These are combined with yoga when possible, taught
by a fully qualified BWY diploma or Yoga Bugs / Yoga'd Up teacher.
Pilates for Children after-school Clubs will shortly be available.

'Lauren
worked at the RSC in the past year taking Pilates sessions with a
mixed group of people drawn from the acting and general RSC company.
Everyone enjoyed her classes immensely and we very much appreciated
her professional and thorough approach to the work. Always reliable,
always a pleasure to work with - I can thoroughly recommend Lauren's
classes to anyone from beginners to those with more experience.'
